Theory of the Business: A Clear Focus on Your C...

This audiobook was created based on Peter Drucker's long business, consulting, and writing career. He focuses on what to do, what not to do, and how to keep a clear corporate identity and mission. He addresses how all organizations eventually go obsolete and their theory of their business no longer works. It addresses how GM did not move from income based to lifestyle based marketing for their cars, thus hastening their demise after seven decades of success betting on incomes only. He also points out, though, that the GM theory of the business still worked for Hughes and EDS, which GM bought. He describes how organizations must choose how to do things. This, he says, is why IBM was paralyzed by the different requirements of a PC versus Mainframe business. He states there are four specifications for a valid theory of a business: assumptions must fit reality; these assumptions about the environment, mission, and core competencies must fit together; the entire organization must know and understand the theory of the business and act accordingly; and the theory of the business must be tested constantly to be kept up to date. When testing the theory of the business, three things must be done if there is an issue: preventive care, early diagnosis before the problem becomes fatal, and applying the cure. This is a must read for all managers and entrepreneurs in all types of organizations: nonprofit, educational, governmental and companies. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Deaver Brown. Data Architecture is intended for people in business management involved with corporate data issues and information technology decisions, ranging from data architects to IT consultants, IT auditors, and data administrators. It is also an ideal reference tool for those in a higher-level education process involved in data or information technology management. Recognizing that database representation sets the path for software, determines its flexibility, affects its quality, and influences whether it succeeds or fails, the text focuses on databases rather than programming. It is one of the first books to apply the popular patterns perspective to database systems and data models. It offers practical advice on the core aspects of applications and provides authoritative coverage of mathematical templates, antipatterns, archetypes, identity, canonical models, and relational database design.

This study contributes to this growing literature by analyzing public and private banks in Turkey s banking sector with more than 300 branches and investigates the role of public relations and corporate social responsibility practices in constructing their organizational identities. In order to analyze the banks organizational identity, this research examines their corporate websites through a thematic content analysis. The focus of this study is organizational identity construction and how public relations and corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices support and enhance this process. The study brings a relatively different theoretical perspective to the field of public relations through its focus on social identity theory. This research reveals that regardless of its core business functions, an organization has to communicate non-economic social concerns such as social responsibility for constructing a legitimate identity and sustaining it.

Scholarship on the pre-Bentinck period of Indian history has taken little notice of the inevitable dilemmas of colonial rule as they became visible in the districts. This book argues that the disdain the eighteenth-century Westminster parliaments expressed both for Indians and the East India Company induced the Bengal civil service to formulate for itself a corporate identity that, because of its distant and self-centered character, prevented it to acquire an executive hold on most levels of the Indian administration. The core of the book consists of superbly-detailed studies of the ways in which, in the Ganges-Jumna doab, villagers, revenue farmers, Indian policemen and revenue officials, bankers and judges struggled to overcome or profit from this feature of the colonial administration.

Sikh Identity

It is commonly assumed that all Sikhs are the same, but the very existence of different groups who have varying beliefs and practices within the Sikh community shows that a corporate identity for the Sikh community is not possible and serves to alienate a substantial proportion of Sikhs from the overall fold of the Sikh faith. Introducing the beliefs and practices of a range of individual Sikh groups, this book addresses the issue of Sikh identity across the Sikh community as a whole but from the viewpoint of different types of Sikh. Examining the historical development of Sikhism from the period of Guru Nanak to the present day, the author takes an in-depth look at five groups in the Sikh community - the Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha; the Namdharis; the Ravidasis; the Valmikis; and the Sikh Dharma of the Western hemisphere (associated with the Healthy, Happy, Holy Organization - 3HO). Their history, beliefs and practices are explored, as well as their diverse and shared identities. Concluding that there is no authoritative yardstick with which to assess the issue of Sikh identity, the author highlights Sikhism's links to its Hindu past and suggests a federal Sikh identity with one or two fundamental beliefs at the core and individual groups left to express their own unique beliefs and practices.
